Bendigo Bank

The reason I like Bendigo Bank more than the other Banks in Kingston, is because it opens its doors at 9am. The other Banks don't open till 9.30, so there are always people waiting at their doors. Bendigo Bank is also open Sat mornings.
Bendigo Bank also puts money back into our local community by helping finance various projects.
So if you are looking for a bank that helps our community, and whose staff are friendly, I recommend this one!

Australian Red Cross

Do you love finding a bargain? I do! Have you been into the Red Cross clothing shop? Yes, it is an op shop, but you will only find good clothes neatly arranged in different colours. They have Mens, Womens and Childrens clothes, some brand new.
The shop is run by volunteers who do a great job organizing all the clothes.
You will find the right type of clothing for the appropriate season, which makes it easy to find what you need, when you need it.
Contrary to how the name sounds, Red Cross is not a religious organization, but a humanitarian one.
Enjoy your bargain hunting,

Your Habitat

If you love baking and trying new things, I recommend Your Habitat in Kingston. Sometimes I go in just to check out all their interesting gadgets and bakeware.

They have a great range of everything you need or want for the kitchen. Last time I was in the store I bought a coffee plunger as a present for my husband who likes a good cup of coffee. He had given a big hint not to get a cheap one, but a nice shiny one, so I knew straight away to go to Your Habitat to find one. They even gift wrapped it for me.

With autumn upon us and Winter not too far away, you should get inspired to make some yummy home cooked dishes, by visiting Your Habitat.

The other part of Mals is their Hire of a wide variety tools and machinery. Nice.

There is also a different section for the little tykes under 3. They also have a jumping castle. Just make sure your kids are wearing socks, or else they will not be able to play - hygienic reasons.

McDonalds

Pretty late today, so I thought I'd just do a quick review of a local landmark.
Not many people have heard of Westside Circle, but if you tell them it is where McDonalds is, there is instant recognition. And a common expression is "the McDonalds roundabout".
Now open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, with a McCafe, Deli  Healthy Choices, plus all the old favourites, McDonalds caters for most people.
It is a hit with the children of course, as well as the adults.
I had a friend who was in his 90's who was a regular at Maccas.

Just look for the iconic signage.

I f you do need to phone them, go to www.kingboroughbusinessdirectory.com.au and search for McDonalds

We'll be a lot earlier with our posting tomorrow

Service was quick.

Greenhill Nursery Leslie Vale

There are few better things than talking to a person who is passionate about their business.
That describes David Drysdale of Greenhill Nursery.
His nursery has a huge range of advanced trees and shrubs, including fruit trees and hedge plants.  Set on quite a few acres, Greenhill Nursery is just 5 min out of Kingston, in Parkdale Drive Leslie Vale.
I don't know a lot about trees and plants other than they need the right amounts of sun, water and fertilizer.
So, if you are like me, you need the right advice on which plant to use where etc.
David and his staff are the people to talk to.
Now open 7 days.
Go to http://www.kingboroughbusinessdirectory.com.au/, and search for Greenhill Nursery for all the contact details.

Nubco

Simon again. Today I'm talking about one of my favourites; Nubco, located along Channel Highway.
I have been a frequent customer here. I suppose the reason is that they have so many different items for so many jobs.
I have bought tools for welding, drilling, measuring, screwing, grinding, sanding.......etc. They stock safety shoes, boots and equipment, work clothing, and a range of power tools to delight the DIY or tradesperson.
They also have a broad range of nuts and bolts and screws in the popular sizes and grades, including stainless. Chain, rope, compressors, generators, brooms, spades, shovels, have I mentioned power tools? Aah.
When I had to rebuild a boat trailer, I purchased the steel from Nubco. They have all the other things for trailer building too. Guards, couplings, lights wiring etc.
The area they keep the steel is much bigger than the rest of the store. They have all you need, and the expertise and advice to go with it.

For contact information, go to http://www.kingboroughbusinessdirectory.com.au/ and search for Nubco.

Lois will feature the business for tomorrows post. A new business just opened in Kingston.

Till next time.  Simon

Cinnamon Homewares and Gifts

A little unusual for a man to review a shop selling homeware. But about a month ago, I called in to Bayview Market, Blackmans Bay, and talked with Fiona, from Cinnamon Homeware and Gifts, and I was impressed.
She has a diiferent range of products. By different I mean good and nice, and unique to her store.
Cinnamon has been able to source a variety of soaps, beauty products, handbags and many other items that are not available in any other shop in Kingborough.
Most of the products are made in Australia, or at least designed by Australians.
Cinnamon is also able to help with tableware for functions such as weddings etc.

Call in, have a look, support local business. Tell Fiona we sent you.

New Bakery Cafe in Taroona

Hi. Was driving through Taroona this morning when we spotted a new cafe! Its called Taroona View Bakery Cafe.  Its where the old service station used to be, just up the road from Taroona Lounge Bar. Looks great! I noticed some delicious looking melting moments in a jar for only $1.20 each! With prices like that I'm sure they will have a good business. That is, if word gets around anyway. They have been open for 3 months.  Opening hours are Wednesday - Sunday  8am - 5pm.  So spread the word around!

BWS Kingston Town Shopping Centre

Beer Wine and Spirits is conveniently located in Kingston Town Shopping Centre.  They stock an impressive range of, you guessed it;
Beer: Tasmanian, interstate and overseas brews are available. My favourite? Pure Blonde.
Wine: again a great variety is available, and the staff are able to help make the choice a little easier if required. Try the Riccadonna Asti for something a little different, and delicious.
Spirits: Liqueurs, Scotch, Rum, Bicardi, Vodka, Bourbon, plus much more. My choice in this line is a nice smooth Irish Whiskey, on the rocks.

They also have a few snacks to complement the liquid refreshments.

Another feature is that you can gain Frequent Shopper Points by purchasing there.

Try them for yourself.

Bye for now, Simon (today)

Tomorrow, Lois will review another well known business located in Kingston Town.
